Giving

all things come from you, and of your own have we given you.” (1 Chronicles 29:14)

How can we give to St Michael’s Church?

There are various ways to donate money to St Michael’s Church – for our work in the community, and to maintain our beautiful building and churchyard:

One-off donations can be made by popping into the Church and leaving a donation in one of our donation boxes, or by using the card reader just inside the main door. Cheques should be made payable to St Michael & All Angels’ Church (Galleywood PCC). Donations can also be made straight into our bank account:

Account name: St Michael & All Angels’ Church (Galleywood PCC)

      Account number: 50433136

      Sort code: 20-19-95

Most of the Church’s income comes from regular donations. If you think you could consider making a regular donation, the best way to do that is through the Parish Giving Scheme, which will also collect Gift Aid for those who are eligible. Here is a <link> to take you directly to the St Michael's Church section in the Parish Giving Scheme website. Alternatively you can download <this form> and send it straight to the Parish Giving Scheme at the address at the bottom of the form.

Why should we give to the Church?

Our much-loved building on the hill on Galleywood Common is an important local landmark – the spire can be seen from miles around, and the bells ring out across the village. It is open every day, for anyone to pop in for some quiet time and prayer. It is a place worship, celebration and remembrance, and is used for community events and by various local groups. It is also the base from which our Church congregation serves our community – we support local schools, host events for the young, elderly and bereaved, run the Friendship+ toddler group, and serve hot meals in school holidays in our Make Lunch club to those families who need a little extra support. It is also the base from which we preach the Gospel of Jesus Christ, in the belief that this brings healing to the world.

Our beautiful churchyard is always open, as a place of peace and reflection, where we can remember our loved ones, enjoy nature, and meet with God.

All of this costs money. As well as our special fundraising for larger building repairs, we also have regular expenses which come to around £10,000 per month. This amount is partly funded by the fees we need to charge in law for weddings, funerals, burials and headstones, and by renting out our building. But by far the biggest contribution comes from regular donations from members of the congregation and others in the Parish.

In recent years, it has become increasingly challenging to fund our ministry, and so we are very grateful to everyone who can contribute something. Whether big or small, all donations are a huge help.
