The Churchyard Code
Please refer to our leaflet called “The Churchyard Code” <here>. This leaflet summarises the rules for the churchyard, which are set by the Chancellor (senior legal officer) of the Diocese of Chelmsford. The rules come to us as part of a legal framework, so they are part of the laws of the country.
We ask that everyone who cares for a grave in our churchyard reads The Churchyard Code carefully and shares it with members of their family, and that everyone follows the rules. This helps us all to care for our churchyard and avoids any unnecessary upset.
The full list of churchyard rules is found in the “Churchyard Handbook”, which is produced by the Diocese of Chelmsford.
