Ellen Morrison - Children and Youth Worker

Ellen joined St Michael’s in 2010 prior to getting married to her husband Stephen in 2011. At an evening service celebrating couples married at the church she was approached by the former Curate and asked whether herself and Stephen would consider volunteering for the church youth club. She describes this request as divine intervention, as for a long time she had been considering working with children, and questioned whether it was her calling.

She enjoyed several years helping and leading worship sessions for Upwards until her daughter Florence Grace was born on Christmas day in 2014.

She didn’t return to her former job, as a writer at a corporate publishing agency in London, after Florence’s arrival. She is now looking forward to retraining as a youth worker.

She said: ‘I look forward to seeing what God has in store for me and the children. A good friend gave me faith stone when I was having personal difficulties in my life, it was inscribed with Jeremiah 29:11. It’s a verse I have taken great comfort in and hope to share it with the youth to reassure them that whatever adversity you face makes you stronger and that God has a plan for you.’

Ellen will be working with our Thursday youth gatherings
