God calls us to SHOW the love of Jesus, SHARE HIS Word with everyone, GROW together as HIS family.

Latest NEWS!

The ‘Church on The Common’, as it is often referred to, is a fine specimen of Victorian architecture but our worship and other needs have changed considerably since it was built in the 1870s.   So…..we need to reshape St. Michael's Church to meet the needs of all the groups who use it.

What have we done so far?

Following our BIG Conversation with church and community groups in December, we have idenitified 38 areas of church or community activity in Galleywood that need more suitable accommodation or extra space in which to grow and develop.

We need 27 different types of space (28 if you include the roller-coaster on the cartoon in the Church Notice Sheet a couple weeks ago!).

We commissioned a technical study to consider what is possible to provide some new facilities and at what cost but these are options; they are not proposals.   Click on the links below to see the feasibility option plans.

Where are we now?

We’re now at the most important part of the BIG Project – defining our need, understanding what God wants us to do here in Galleywood.

We can't and mustn't start planning building alterations until we know exactly why we need the changes, why we can't achieve our aims through other means, what form our future activities will take, for how many people, when etc etc (and we must write all this down)

We have written a document called a Statement of Need for the Diocese.

So where do we need to go from here?

If you lead or represent a church or community group, or if you just have ideas about activities that could or should be included (perhaps you’ve been inspired by the ‘The Church Extension’ cartoon), please contact us to ensure that your needs and plans are reflected in the BIG Project.

Only when we've completed our Statement of Need and sorted out funding can we employ a designer and other technical advisers to help us consider how the building can be adapted, changed or extended to suit our needs.
